Commissioning - how it works

What is involved in commissioning a piece of art?

1. First Contact - Your enquiry either by telephone, letter, or by using the form on this site

2. A Visit and Discussion - Depending on circumstances we will arrange a meeting to discuss ideas, mediums, and sizes for the piece. Stella is prepared to travel within a reasonable distance

3. Contract - Stella will estimate cost and prepare a contract for you to consider, and if satisfactory, for joint signature

4. Preparation Work - Work will start with sketches, reference material, and rough designs

5. Sessions - (In the case of a Portrait) Perhaps between four and six short sittings of half an hour duration. These can take place at home, or at a location of your choice. In the case of a very large or complicated piece of work more sessions may be necessary

6. Presentation - Framing can be selected in consultation with Stella

7. Delivery - Normally Stella likes to deliver the finished artwork personally to the client
